Pink and Black Elegance

This week's challenge over at Craft Your Passion, is to use the colors pink and black together. I was thrilled to see this as a challenge theme, because this is one of my favorite color combos! Please join us over at Craft Your Passion and play along in our pink and black color challenge! You could win some cute cute cute digi images from Coco Dingo and Lauretta's Digital Stamps!

I love it when I can push myself to incorporate multiple sketches! For this card, I used the sketches at Truly Scrumptious, at Card Patterns (Sketch #79) and at Just Inspirationl Sketches, I rotated the one at Just Inspirational Sketches a little, to make it fit on my card, and i got really creative with the one at Crad patterns! The image is from CocoDingo and is colored with Promarkers. All DP is old papers from my Stash. (I just love the grey and black patterned paper with the glitter!) The flowers have pink gem centers to add some more Bling. I found these new pearls on clearance, recently, and just had to add those, as well. A girl can never have too much bling!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Your Pad Or Mine?

Time for my first project for Shelly's Images! Whoo Hoo! I am soooooo excited to be part of this talented group of ladies! Thanks so much for having me, ladies!

My card features the awesome image, My Pad, from Shelly's Images. I love this image because of its versatility, and darn it he is just cute! Wouldn't you just love to find him floating in your pond? He is available, right now, and on sale for a limited time, so pop on over and grab him for your very own! you can find him, and lots of other fantastic images at Shelly's Images store. Keep coming back and browsing the store, too, because there are lots more wonderful images being released.

I went with birthday for this card, because my cousin has a special birthday coming up and she absolutely loves frogs! Since its a frog, I went with a mostly monochromatic color theme, with some pink thrown in, and another little splash of colors in the ribbon. The layout is a combination of sketches from Sunda Sketch & Stamp and Sketch #79 from Card Patterns. I got creative with the one from Card Patterns and moved the elements all around to fit on my lattice cut card. For the card base, I used white cardstock with a lattice pattern cut into one side. The patterned paper is from my stash. After adding the paper, I decided to fill in the rest of the white space by sponging it with a green ink pad. (This is a new technique for me.) The image is colored with Promarkers and then cut out and mounted with foam mounting tape, for dimension. The ribbon is from my stash. The sentiment is from Stampin UP and is punched using the oval and scalloped oval punches. Lots of fancy cutting on this card! I added pink flowers for dimension and to give the card that little extra something that it seemed to be missing, without them. I love the look of the scrunched pink flowers.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Challenge #73 Cool It at Digital Tuesday
Recipe Time at Papertake Weekly (3 flowers, 2 pieces of ribbon, 1 sentiment)

If you missed out on any events, you still have time to play in the Name the paper pack and win it contest, here, and in the "guess how many" contest, here.)

Now it is time for the big event... The birthday blog hop! Many of our DT team are offering blog candy.. Some may be posted in their hop post.. Some may be a mystery, so you will have to leave us all some love, in order to win! Just hop along to all our blogs, become a follower and leave us a comment to celebrate our birthday, for your chance to win some great prizes! Please remember, that in order to win, you MUST comment on every blog in the hop. (We will check to make sure the winners have commented on all blogs) Along the way, you will get to see some wonderful creations using digi images by Stamping Dragon Designs. You have until The end of the day on Aug 31 to participate in the festivities. Winners will be announced by Sept 2.

If you arrived here from the blog of our wonderful creator, Janette, then you are on the right track. If not, you will want to go back to the Stamping Dragon website and start from the beginning.

In celebration of our Birthday here at Stamping Dragon, and the birthday of Janette herself, Janette created this special digi stamp, above, in honor of their birthdays. This wonderful image is called Rupert's Birthday. Right now, for a limited time only, you can get this image for your very own, for just 99 cents, in the store.

Now, let me show you what I did with this awesome image. Here is my card, below, created especially to celebrate the birthdays of Janette and Stamping Dragon. I made this cute spinner card. You can see the white scalloped tab on the right of the striped box. Turning that tab makes the text in the window move. How cute is that?!

I used an MS border punch for the punched flowers.

Now, head on over to Tam's blog, to see the yummy eye candy she created for your viewing pleasure.

If you get lost along the way, you may come back here to view the blog hop list, and get back on track. The complete list is at the bottom of this post.

Don't forget to leave comments on all the blogs as you hop along, for your chances to win some wonderful blog candy.

Is my blog, here, one of the blogs offering some yummy candy? Hmmm You will just have to leave me some love and then wait and see! *Shhhhhhh I think it's a pretty good guess that I'm giving away some surprise blog candy*

As a bonus, if you post about our birthday blog hop on your blog, with a link to the starting point, you will get an extra chance to win some blog candy! I will give another entry for anyone who becomes a new follower of my blog. Please mention in your comment that you became a follower. (I will check, too! LOL)

UPDATE: If we get over 50 participants in our blog hop (that means 50 comments from 50 different people that are not part of the hop) I will throw in more blog candy and draw a second winner from the comments on my blog.

So, we are challenging you to make a birthday card in honor of our birthday. As a special bonus, Janette, from Stamping Dragon, has created a special digi stamp in celebration of our birthday. It is called Rupert's party, and you can purchase it in their store for a limited time, for only 99 cents. (See image below)

You don't have to use the image above to make us a birthday card for our birthday challenge. You can use any stamp, as long as your card is a birthday card. To play along with us, head on over to Beth's Blog, where you will find the wonderful Mr Linky, to enter your card. You don't want to miss out! Beth has a special prize for the winner of our birthday card Challenge.

Here is my card, for our birthday celebration:

I love to use sketches for creating my cards, and this time I used a combintion of them! I used the Sketch (#78) from Card Patterns, the sketch from Papercraft Star and the sketch from PaperPlay. All papers are from my stash. I decided to be different, and make a spinner card. You can see where there is a white scallop tab on the right side of the striped box. This is the tab you turn to make the sentiments rotate in the window. The green metal brad in the center holds the message wheel in place. I used a Martha Stewart border punch to punch the flowers and the flower border. The pink flower in the center is from K & C company and is pop dotted for dimension. This was a fun card to make.

In case you missed it, it isn't too late to play along in our "Name the paper pack and win it" contest and our "Guess How Many" contest.

For my card, I chose an image from Lauretta's Digital Stamps. I love this fairy. She looks like she is blowing kisses. I went with a blue color theme this time, with a sprinkle of other colors, here and there. I used the sketch at 2 sisters. The cardstock and DP are scraps from my stash. I colored the image with Promarkers. The DP and the ribbon are all from my stash. My flowers were made by punching blue cardstock with the 5 petal flower punch from Stampin up, then I folded the flowers in half and added foam mounting tape under the fold, to make them stand out, before attaching them to my card. I used a white opaque pen by Inksentials to add the lines and centers to the flowers. (I know I know.. I could have done a better job. The lighting wasn't very bright and i miseed some spots, not to mention got a little crooked. I wasn't drinking, I swear! LOL

I think you're Greeeaaattt and I'm not Lion!

Time for a new challenge over at Stamping With The Dragon. For this round, we are using a simple sketch. Jump on over and join us for your chance to win some images of your choice, from Stamping Dragon Designs.

I used a new image by Stamping Dragon Designs, called Lucy Lion. Lucy is colored with Promarkers. The DP is a scrap from my stash. The flower border was punched with a border punch by Martha Stewart. The buttons are recycled from some old shirts I threw away. The flower medallion was made with strips of DP punched with a border punch, then accordian folded and secured together, then folded into a flower. I seen a tutorial on this and just had to try it! They are a lot of work, but well worth it, in my opinion. This card fits the sketch at Papertake Weekly and Raise The Bar.

Let's Go Back To School

I finally found some time to do a little bit of crafting. Since it's Back To School time,I figured I'd make a card in honor of school days. This card reminds me of a teacher I used to have in 8th grade, Mrs Estoye. I swear the woman was an imposter and locked the real teacher in the closet. I couldn't wait for that school year to be over! (I'm sure we all remember a teacher like that)

For this card, I used the Sketches at Papertake Weekly, Sweet Stop and Sunday Sketch & Stamp, and Crafty Ho's. The image is from the Stella line of digi stamps, from Bugaboo, and is colored with Promarkers. (I just love Jodi's images!) Stella may not be lovely to most of us, but I'm sure she is, in some way, to her husband Gus. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

The background paper is all scraps from my stash. The border is punched using a border punch from Martha Stewart. I tore these buttons off some old clothes I threw away. The ribbon is new, from the dollar bin at Target. It's hard to see in the pic, but I used a clearstar jelly roll pen to her glasses to make them shine.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

P is for Punches at Alphabet Challenge

Challenge Time! Anything Goes!

It's that time, again! Time for a new challenge at Craft Your Passion. This week, we have one of everyone's favorite themes.... Anything Goes! That's right! Anything! I love themes like this, because there is such a wonderful variety of projects. I hope you will stop by Craft Your Passion, this week, and play along with us for a chance to win an image of your choice from Lauretta's Digital Stamps and CocoDingo.

For this card, I used paper and cardstock from my Stash. The image is called Cactus and is from CocoDingo . I colored it with those oh so wonderful Promarkers. I used an ornately printed piece of acetate as a "shelf" for the cacti to sit on. (I just bought this wonderful assorted pack of acetate on clearance at Michael's and it is so much fun to work with). The photo corners are punched with a photo corner punch by EK Success.

With A Cherry on Top

I finally managed to get a card done, this week. This time,a birthday card, using the sketch from Deedee's Digis. The image is from Deedee's also, and is colored with Stampin Up and Bic Markers. (Yes, yes I know.. you are shocked I didnt use my Promarkers. That's because I colored this before I got my beloved Promarkers.)

The DP is all old papers from my stash, as is the cardstock. I used skittles (dyed them myself) in the upper right corner, for embellishing. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and is punched with Stampin Up punches. The ice cream sundae and the sentiment are both pop dotted for 3D effect and dimension.

I really love the colors in this and the combination of the DP's. I think it turned out to be a nice colorful birthday card.

Autographed Tim Holtz Alterations Die! Whoo Hooo!

This has been a busy week for me, so I haven't done a lot of crafting. A friend and I went to a Wine & Cheese Kickoff party for the rubber stamp convention, Stampaway, that is being held in Cincinnati this weekend. The party was so much fun! They had a chinese auction and tons of great prizes. I won some rubber stamps and Hero Hues adhesive embellishments from Hero Arts. And, I won something else really cool....

I won one of the new ALterations dies... The Ornate On the Edge die, from Tim Holtz.
And.... Get this........

........
............
..................
.....................The package is autographed by Tim Holtz, himself!!!

Can you beleive it?! I was so psyched to win it!

Now, to figure out what the heck to do with it! LOL (I've never used one of these. Any tips or suggestions?)

I know there are lots of Tim Holtz fans out there, so....

How many of you are wishing you were me, right now?! LOL

Christmas Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho! Time for another Christmas card! This sassy Christmas gal is from Bugaboo Stamps. I absolutely had to have her, once I seen her! (Of course, I bought several other stamps too... Couldn't resist the greatness Jodie has for sale over at Bugaboo!)

For this card, I used the sketch at Pretties, and decided to use some non traditional colors. I also wanted to use the theme, black and white, with two other colors... so I used Pink and red as my two other predominant colors.

The cardstock and DP are both from my stash. The swirls are new.. I found them on clearance at Michael's and had to have them. They seem to be perfect for this Christmas card. the square/diamond shaped piece of cardstock on this card is mounted with foam mounting tape, to add dimension and 3D effect.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

8 Arms Are Better Than 2

Ever wish you had more arms than 2, so you could do more things at once? This cute little octopus must be great at multi-tasking! Unfortunately, I can't help you figure out how to get more arms, but I can tell you how you can get this little Octopus for your very own. You can stop by Stamping Dragon Designs and browse their shop. This cutie is there waiting on you for you to buy her and bring her home. While you are there, pick up some of her friends, too. Rupert, Jiggy, and Penny are there and would love to come home with you, too!

For this card, I used the Sketch at I Love Promarkers. They wanted us to use their sketch and no more than three colors. I certainly have that covered, with this monochromatic card. I used my favorite gingham paper, yet again. The corners were punched with a photo corner punch by EK Success. The old pink ribbon is from my stash. I used a white opaque pen from inksentials to add the white dots. The image is pop dotted for 3D effect

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Trying To Get Vintage, Take Two, And Make It A Double!

I absolutely loved this newly released image pack when it was released recently at Stamping Dragon Designs. It's called the Sewing Pack and comes with images of the dress form, an embroidery hoop, scissors and sewing machine. One of my favorite image sets! As soon as I seen these, I thought of Vintage cards. Anyone who has followed my blog for even a short time, knows that I've never really done much in the way of vintage cards. I love the look of some of them though, and this digi image set made me want to try another attempt at a vintage style card. I decided to make this a double second attempt, by also making this my second attempt at distressing. (and now this is my new favorite technique!)

I somehow messed up with timing on this card, though. I thought I had my challenge list up to date, but I guess I goofed on that end. I used the sketch from Create4Fun for this card....Only to realize that the challenge was already over, by the time I got my card posted LOL. In any case, I wanted to give them credit for this wonderful sketch.

Naturally, I used my Promarkers, to color the images for the card. I used four different patterned papers... That may be a first for me! I distressed and inked the edges of the image and sentiment. The crochet ribbon is new and is from Stampin Up. The buttons are from an old shirt, from some closet cleaning. The scissors are mounted with foam mounting tape, to add dimension and 3D effect.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Ohhhh darn it! I just posted my card pic and looked at the post and realized I forgot to put any yellow in my card and used some pink and purple in the paper LOL. Oooopsie sorry Janette. I think my brain was on vacation when I did my card! I think everyone is just being nice to me by not pointing out my oopsie!

I kept my card clean & simple this time. All papers are from my stash, as is the cute frog ribbon. I've had this ribbon forever and had been waiting to find the right use for it. The image is from Whimsy Stamps, and is colored with Promarkers. The flowers are by Prima. I used crystal stickles to add sparkle, and pearls for the centers.

Take Time To Say Thank You

I've been busy crafting my tushie off, this week. Here's a cute little thank you card I made to send to my cousin, who helped me out so much when my mom passed away, awhile back. She's going through a hard time herself right now, and I just wanted to take the time to, again, say thank you for all she's done for me.

I chose the colors lime green and purple. Purple is my favorite color, and I love to experiment and try different color combinations. I've decided that I really like these two colors together. The inspiration for the card layout came from the sketch at Peachy Keen. I used more of the old papers from my stash. I love the look of the dots and stripes together. The image is by Lexi's Creations and is colored with Promarkers. I punched this cute turtle with a 1 3/4" circle punch by Stampin up, Then with a scalloped circle punch by EK Success. The strip of green cardstock is punched using a MS border punch. The sentiment is from Stampin Up's Warm Regards set and and punched with their oval and scalloped oval punches by Stampin Up.

In The Pink, Baby

I haven't made a baby card in awhile, and I've been in the mood for pink, girlie and gingham, lately. All that resulted in a pink monochromatic card. I will have to edit the post a little later, with the name of the designer of this cute baby digi stamp. I printed this out awhile back and forgot to write the designer's name on the back, so I'll have to go through my files and find the creater's name. The image is colored with Promarkers.

The gingham paper, pink ribbon and cardstock for the card are from my stash. I used the sketch at One Stitch At A Time, for my card layout. Sometimes I just love the clean & simple look. The sentiment is from the Stampin Up set, Teeny Tiny Wishes. I punched it out with the oval and scalloped oval punches, also from Stampin up. The sentiment is pop dotted for a 3D effect.

It's A Dog Eat Dog World

It's a doggie from the dark side. This image is from KennyK and is perfect for representing the saying, "It's A Dog Eat Dog World." This dog is eating a dog of his own. How's that for, "punny?" He must be the pet of one of KennyK's new Gothik Angelz. I loved this dog image and as soon as I seen it, I had to make a card with it. Their challenge this week is "From The Dark Side," which isn't usually my style, so this is new for me. I'm not sure how "dark" I was able to make him, but I gave it a shot. I tried to use darker colors, but had to add a little splash of color for the hotdog.

This image reminds me of the movie, All Dogs Go To heaven, because this dog is certainly in heaven, eating that hotdog! I have a dog just like this, but she's black and she loves it when she gets "people food!" It also remdinds me of the Carrie Underwood song, "The More Boys I Meet" (The More I like my dog! I love this song and now I have it playing over in my head. *sigh*

For this card, I used the sketches from Pear Tree Designs and from Sweet Stampin. All papers are from my stash. I love the black and white gingham checked paper. The center piece of DP with the stitched stripe is from my scrap box. I colored the image with Promarkers, using the grey family. (This is my absolute favorite prodcut, ever!) Then, I distressed the image block by adding some dark grey ink to the edges, and matted the block on black cardstock. The 3 sets of 3 dots on the image block were made with a fine tip black Promarker. The black flowers are new. I found these in the clearance section at Meijers. They had pink stones in the centers, and I altered them by removing the stones and adding skittles dyed with cranberry alcohol ink. The black skittles in the opposite corners are from my stash. The sentiment is computer generated. The skittles and flowers add a nice 3D effect.
