Tabletop Graveyard
Things are cooling off and we're starting to have some of those cool crisp nights. Time to Think of fall and that means Halloween is fast approaching! Time to start all those creepy projects!
I created this 3D Project for the Challenge over at Stamp It Crazy, for their You're Dead challenge, to create your own tombstone. The challenge is to create your tombstone on a project, so I figured I might was well go for an actual graveyard! The rules are that you must Use Red, Black and Grey, and must included a tombstone and a moon. After looking at my completed project, I realized what an awesome decoration this would be for the table tops at Halloween parties!
I found this gray cage in the dollar Bin at Michael's yesterday and immediately I envisioned it as a graveyard for Halloween. So it was perfect for a project to enter into this challenge. I've been wanting to try a 3D project, so this is the perfect opportunity for me... A new Beginning, so to speak, since its my first try at an altered 3D project.
I did my tombstone on gray cardstock with black ink and then cut it out and attached it to the bottom of my cage. The spooky black tree is digital clipart that I printed onto light gray cardstock and cut out. (Sorry, I'm not sure of the exact source). I added some blood to the tree and the tombstone with a red promarker, then attached the tree and tombstone to the bottom of my cage.
I had some of that white fake spiderweb silk that I saved from an old Halloween decoration I threw out. I knew I'd find something to use it for, eventually, so I added that to the bottom of the cage surrounding my images, and then topped it with Xmas Red stickles for shine and to add color and creepiness. I hand cut a moon from black cardstock and hung it from the top of the cage, then placed a black cat image on the front of the cage.
Presto! An altered cage turned tabletop graveyard! It reminds of the book/story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
This was so much fun to make, and forced me to go "outside my box" by making my first altered 3D project.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
