If you're a horse lover, then you are going to love Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images. Today's featured image, Being Together, is on sale, today only, in Shelly's Store! Saddle up and trot on over to Shelly's store and pick this beauty up for yourself. You'll be glad you did!
For my card today, I've used the fun sketches at Inspirational Card Sketches and Get Sketchy, for my layout.
Of course, the image, Being Together, is today's featured image at Shelly's Images. I've used a couple different mediums, this time, for coloring the image. First, I colored the image in with my oh so wonderful Promarkers. Then, I decided I wanted to add some distressing elements to the card, so I broke out my new, never used distressing kit by Making Memories. It comes with so many fun things that I still haven't used yet, but I did break out the edging tool for this project, as well as the chalks. The chalks came in green, tan and black. I edged the entire image in the green, very lightly. Next, I added the tan t the sky, and then used the black chalks to add some a shaded muffled cloudy look to the sky and between the slats of the fence. The distressing edger tool was used to distress the edges of the card base, and the matting on the image. I really like how it turned out, and it is sooooo much nicer to look at in person!
The woodgrain DP (Which you can't see much of, sorry) and the cowboy themed DP are scraps from my stash, as are the star shaped buttons. The buttons came from a western top my mom used to have. I save buttons off clothing when it gets thrown away. Go Green! I had purchased the metal ribbon slider brads and the leather cord at Hobby Lobby specifically for this project, and had intended to thread the cord through the ribbon slider brad. Things don't always work out they way we plan, though, do we? I found out that the cord was too thick to fit through the metal slider.... so I had to quickly come up with a plan B! What you see here, is Plan B! LOL! I had bought both of these for use on this card, and darn it, I was determined to make it happen! It looks different than it did in my head, but then, projects usually do once they roll around in my head and come spilling out onto paper!
I had so much fun making this project! I hope you'll enjoy looking at it.
