Sympathy With A Feathered Friend

Yippee, here I am, again! I hope you aren't getting tired of me, yet! I'm here with another project for you - Day 3 of My Growing in Unity Week, with Unity Stamp Company! Today, I have a sympathy card to show you.  If you're like me, you always struggle with making sympathy cards.  Usually, my go to stamped images are flowers, for sympathy cards... But, I got to thinking - How about using a stamped image that is more cheerful, so I cam up with this, and, I think it turned out nicely - Hopefully it will help comfort the recipient.

Today's card uses the bird from the Sometimes I Wonder (March 2016) sentiment kit, from Unity Stamp Company The sentiment is also from Unity Stamp Company, but it came in a grab bag, so I'm not sure which set it is from. By the way, did you know that Unity releases a new sentiment kit each month?! How cool is that?! Most sentiment kits also have an image or two in them, as well.  Be sure you check out the sentiment kits at Unity, they're awesome!

Anyway, back to the card details. I've colored the bird with Promarkers.  All papers are from my stash.  I went with a clean simple look today, too, being its a sympathy card - Therefore, I feel it shouldnt' be all sparkly and busy.

Don't forget to leave some love, today! Comment every day this week for a chance to win a Unity Grab bag. Be sure to come back tomorrow, too - You're going to really enjoy tomorrow's project!

Birds Of A Feather

Yay! It's Monday, and that means a new challenge at Craft Your Passion! Our theme this week is Paper Piecing. We have a fabulous sponsor for you this week! We're being sponsored by the wonderful folks at AI Factory, who are giving away a digi prize to one lucky winner!

The generous folks over at AI Factory have given the DT a couple of adorable image sets to play with this week, too! Thank you, AI Factory!

We hope you will join us at Craft Your Passion for our Paper Piecing challenge this week! You know you'd love to win the digi prize from AI Factory! And while you're visiting us at Craft Your Passion, check out the other wonderful creations by the DT and leave them some love!

For my project this week, I decided to try and make a corner bookmark. I hadn't ever made one before, so I was a little nervous about it. While it didn't turn out perfect, I'm happy with the results, for my first attempt! I used scraps of papers from my stash. The birdies are paper pieced and are from the Little Birdie Told Me set from AI Factory. I used a tea green Promarker to outline around the white parts of the birds. I wanted those parts to be white, but find that the white often gets lost in everything, if it isnt highlighted. The tea green Promarker is very light and works well to highlight white spaces. I used the branch punch by Martha Stewart to make sprigs of greenery for the birdies to nest in, and to nest the heart in. The heart is punched with a punch by Creative Memories, and is attached with foam mounting tape for dimension. The border is also punched using a Martha Stewart Punch.

I am entering this corner bookmark in the following challenges:
