Winter Escape By The Sea

Welcome to a new challenge! Whoo Hoo! Are you  just sick, sick, sick of the frigid cold temps and nasty weather we've had at the end of Winter, here in the states? I know I am! If you're like me, you are thinking of a nice warm place to get away! Well, let us help you with that - We have the perfect challenge for you this fortnight! We want to see your Winter Vacation Getaway Challenge at Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges. Of course, if you live somewhere other than the states or live somewhere with hot sticky weather, then you may be dreaming of the opposite and wishing for a colder, snowy getaway - And that's okay, too! We want to see your getaway creations - Whether they're warm, cold or just downright hot! Whatever getaway you are wishing for, come show us and play along, this time, at Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges! Our challenges run every two weeks, Saturday through Friday - So you have plenty of time to play along!

There are always some awesome prizes to be won.  At Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges, we are lucky enough to have several kind, thoughtful, generous sponsors, each fortnight. This means many chances to win, for playing along! There are also DT picks each challenge, so you also have the chance to have the honor of being spotlighted!

This time, we are offering up prizes from these super sweet sponsors:

Wow, lots of great prizes to be won, don't you agree! Remember, you have two weeks, starting today, to play along! Get out your crafting supplies, get your mojo going, and start creating, so you can link up with us, for your chance to win, at Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges!

While you're here, I'd love for you to stick around just a little longer, while I tell you about my card. My card uses the image set, Under The Sea Set, from Digital Delights by Looby Lou. I used the background provided with the set, then fussy cut around the mermaid, octopus and little fishy, and used foam mounting tape to add them to the background.  All images have been colored with Promarkers. There's lots of dimension going on here, to create this 3D underwater scene! I only used one scrap of designer paper on this card - A really tough task for me, trust me, as I do love my patterned papers! I used a piece of fuzzy lime green scalloped trim across the bottom of the card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Challenge #27 Anything Goes at Art By Miran Challenge

Trick Or Treat Times Two!

Hello everyone!

I have another project to show you, for the 12 Days of Halloween at Simply Betty Stamps. For Day 2, We're asked to make a project with two trick or treaters on it. I used this cute mermaid witch image from Simply Betty Stamps and cut out two of them. They're the perfect little trick or treaters with thier pumpkins hanging from their brooms! Aren't they adorable! I wouldn't mind seeing these little witchy girls fly up to my door for some candy.

For my card layout, I used the Sketch at Peachy Keen Stamps. My card base is metallic black cardstock, though it looks bluish in the picture because of the camera flash. I used Halloween newsprint DP for the background and added scraps of two other papers from my stash, tied up with some black and white baker's twine. The sentiment is a sticker from the Apothecary line from Echo Park. The image is colored with Promarkers. It is hard to see in the pic unless you enlarge it, but the broomsticks are purple and the broomheads are green. I wanted to incorporate all the halloween colors: black, orange, purple and green. The images are mounted with foam mounting tape for dimension and 3D effect.
