I'm Nuts About You!

Are you ready for another Terrifically Thrilling Thursday and a new challenge at Shelly's Images?! Today is another of the oh so fun "Designer's Choice" weeks, where we, the DT, get to choose whatever image we want. This is extra special for you, because it means that ALL the images featured by the DT today are on sale, for a special price, in the Shelly's Images Store! Whoo Hoo! How's that for a bargain?! Remember, though, the special price is ONLY for today!

Our challenge theme this week is, Text me! That means we want to see Text/sentiments on your projects! How's that for an easy one?!

My project, today, uses the Sketch at Lia Stampz, as my card layout. I'm using this adorable little squirrel image, Nuts About You, by Shelly's Images. It reminds me so much of all the squirrels I see in my front yard in the mornings. I've been saving stale bread to feed them, and they're starting to come out in force in the mornings! I love watching them carry off an entire slice of bread! LOL! So cute! Anyway, I've colored this squirrel with Promarkers. All papers are scraps from my stash, as are the gold metal glittered brads. Ribbon is brand new. The sentiment is punched with a punch by EK Success.

Buckle Me Up a Santa Claus

Time for another card, again! This one is for Day 7 of the 12 Days of Christmas at Catch The Bug. The challenge is to take inspiration from the posted photo. I used the colors and the pine from the photo.

I made this card for my cousin - She loves bling.

My card uses the Sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy. I love love love this sketch! My image is from Bugaboo Stamps and colored with Promarkers. I mounted this cute santa on a scalloped circle with foam mounting tape. He's had glitter and sparkle added to his beard and the tree, with a clearstar gelly roll pen. The mix of papers make this a fun card. I used a silver ribbon slider, a fun green and silver metal brad and some sparkly gemstones to embellish the card. The ribbon is from my stash.

Of Course I Hung My Stockings

I'm breaking Stella out for my Day 4 Card for The 12 Days of Christmas at Catch The Bug. The theme for day 4 is to add a bird to your project. I admit,I had to get creative with this one!

My card uses the Sketch at Skipping Stones Designs for the layout. I used this fun Christmas image of the oh so wonderful Stella and matching sentiment, from Bugaboo Stamps. She is colored with Promarkers. I went with non traditional colors this time. I found these fun papers in my stash and new they'd make a great card! Stella looks wonderful in purples and blues, doesn't she? The purple and white trim and the metal snowflake brad are also from my stash. I used a Martha Stewart punch to punch out these pretty doves then embossed them with the Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder. Once embossed, I inked them with blue pearlescent ink. (Told you I had to get creative to be able to add a bird to my project!) The sentiment is punched with oval and scalloped oval punches. I attached the image, the birds and the sentiment with foam mounting tape for dimension

Old World Santa

Good morning everyone! I'm here early, today, to show you a new project! I've decided to play in the12 Days of Christmas at Catch The Bug because I love love love Bugaboo Stamps! I'm not sure I will have enough time to complete all 12 days, as I have a hectic schedule the next two week. But, I at least want to play in as many days as I can.

My project, today is for Day 1 of the 12 Days of Christmas. For Day 1, we are asked to use a tree on our project.

I'm using the Sketch at Hanna and Friends for my card layout. This adorable image is Old World Santa, from Bugaboo Stamps. He is too too cute! Santa is colored with Promarkers. I've added glitter and sparkle to him with a clearstar gelly roll pen, and snow to the tree, with liquid pearls. I've used one of my favorite embellishments, metal brads, to embellish two of the corners. The brads have a beautiful Old World style to them, so they were just perfect to highlight Old World Santa. The sentiment is by Sentiments 4 You and has been punched with oval and scalloped oval punches. All papers are scraps from my stash, as are the brads. The image and sentiment are mounted with foam mounting tape for dimension.

I used this fun photo from Just Inspirational Challenges for my inspiration.

Christmas Penguin

Here I am, again, with one more card for today. Again, going with the black, silver and bling combination. My card layout uses the Sketch at Fetch A Sketch. The image is by Bugaboo Stamps. I've colored the image with Promarkers. The paper is a scrap from my stash. I also used a small scrap of black embossed paper with splashes of silver, leftover from a card I posted earlier, today. I tied silver metallic twine around the card, and around the small scrap of black and silver paper. I just love all these bows made with the twine! The buttons are recycled from an old shirt I threw away on one of my cleaning sprees. The image has had glitter and sparkle added with a clearstar gelly roll pen. I finished off the card by adding some bling with these silver metal snowflakes. I figured I didn't need to add an additional sentiment, since they're printed all over my DP.

This is a card for my favorite aunt, who loves penguins!

Kenny K Christmas

I was so excited to see that Kenny K's Krafty Girlz is having a DT call! It's always been my dream to be on the Kenny K DT, ever since I discovered his stamps! I applied once before and didn't make it.... But, you know what they say, if at first you don't succeed Try try, again!

And so, I have to try, again!

Here is my DT call submission:

I've been into shaped cards, lately, and the tee pee card is one of my favorites! I love that it is 3 dimensional and sphere shaped so that it stands up independently so all 3 sides can be decorated. These also make great centerpieces for holidays and parties. I'm going to be giving this card to a coworkers granddaughter for Christmas.

This tee pee is 5" tall. The card closes with a very thin velcro oval by Tombow. I'm using Kenny K's Hot Weave image, colored with Promarkers. She's had glitter and sparkle added with a clearstar gelly roll pen. All papers are scraps from my stash.

I made a triangle shaped banner with polka dot paper and pink and white baker's twine, then stretched it around the top of the tee pee on all three sides. The banner has silver metal snowflakes attached to each triangle. The sentiment is by Sentiments 4 You and is punched with oval and scalloped oval punches. I've added some punched branches of greenery behind the sentiment. The image and sentiment are attached with foam mounting tape for Dimension. The red DP has snowflakes on it

I am entering this card for kids in the following DT call:

Naughty Or Nice? Santa's Watching!

Are you ready for a fun new challenge at Stamp Insanity?!

This fortnight, we have an ABC challenge! What is an ABC challenge, you ask? It's Anything But A Card! These are so fun because it gives us a chance to do other things! Make tags, treat bags, or alter an item! So many fun possibilities! And the holidays are fast approaching, so you can even get a head start on those handmade gifts!

Come and show us how you do your ABC's at Stamp Insanity!

I found this locker sized corkboard in the dollar bin at Target and figured I could do something with it. I've had it for a few months, just sitting here, still in the package. I had no clue what I was going to do with it. And then this challenge came up, and I instantly thought of this lonely little corkboard just screaming for attention! I felt bad for it, so I decided to unwrap it and play with it! LOL

I tied some fun Christmas ribbon (From my stash) around the top of the corkboard. Then made a naughty and nice list and attached them to the board. The sentiment and image from from the Naughty or Nice set from Stamp Insanity. The adorable santa dressed Morgan is colored with Promarkers. I added Glitter and sparkle to her with a clearstar gelly roll pen, then attached her and the Naughty or Nice sentiment with foam mounting tape. The bulb and Christmas tree embellishments are brads from my stash.

This board is going to be fun to hang up for Christmas! Are you naughty or nice?! Come play along with us at Stamp Insanity to get yourself on the "Nice" list, for Christmas!

It's A New Release Hop at Dude Time Doodles

Are you all excited, yet?! It's New release time at Dude Time Doodles and they're celebrating with a blog hop!

I hope you're here to join us for this fun hop while we showcase these fabulous new images! Be prepared for some eye candy to knock your socks off!

If you came to me from NanaConnie, you are on the right track! If not, I suggest you start at the Dude Time Doodles blog.

Of course, I have the complete hop list for you, below, in case you get lost along the way.

Be sure you leave comments on all the stops along the way, because one of us is the Mystery Hostess! That means one winner will be drawn from the comments on the blog of the mystery hostess, and that person is going to be the blog hop winner! So, leave some lovin' at every stop along the way! You don't want to miss out on your chance to be the big winner!

Also, I want to remind you that Halloween images are 50% off for the entire month of September so be sure you pick up your favorites in the Dude Time Doodles store, during this special sale!

I hope you're enjoying the wonderful creativity along this hop! These are a very talented bunch of ladies and I'm so honored to have gotten to guest design with them for the month of August. I'm sad that this is my last card as guest designer here, but I have loved every minute of it!

With that said, here is my card for your viewing pleasure:

I had so much fun making this card. I've used Fanny Witch, from the Dude Time Doodles new releases. Fanny is colored with Promarkers. I found this fun Halloween web type cloth in a box of Halloween decorations when I cleaned out the attic. I had to save it, because I knew I'd eventually find a use for it! I cut a piece of it off and stretched it over the front of the card and then adhered it to the back, to make this funky textured overlay. (How's that for recycling?!) Then I used a couple scraps of Halloween paper over it, and attached the image and sentiment. The image, sentiment and paper scraps are mounted with foam mounted tape, for added dimension and 3D effect. I finished the card off by embellishing with some fun metal Halloween brads. My card uses the layout at Sketches By Carly.

I hope you enjoyed my card. It was so much fun to make! I love love love this Fanny witch image! So much fun to work with!

Now, hop on over to Linda's blog to see what she has up her sleeve! I just know she has a fabulous creation to show you!

And remember to leave comments on all the blogs along the way! Here is the complete hop list in case you lose your way:

Happy Birthday, Sexy!

Are you ready to see a rootin' tootin' birthday card?!

I made this card for my friend for his birthday, using the Mae Western image, from KennyK. I colored this sexy vixen with my Promarkers. The metal frame is Hodgepodge Hardware from Stampin Up. I used two patterned papers, star shaped buttons and sheer blue ribbon from my stash

Don't you just love all the layers?! And the pink and blue color combo is perfect for a masculine card.

A teen boy would probably love this card!

This is my first time making a center step card, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I did have a slight mishap, though. The darn ribbon came loose on one side when I took the pic and I didn't notice it till I went to watermark the pic. I've since fixed the loose ribbon, but didn't take a new pic, sorry.

Let's Go Back To School

It's Terrifically Thrilling Thursday at Shelly's Images, which means challenge time!

As our followers know, we are starting to change the way challenges and featured images work at Shelly's Images. Our featured images and challenge posts will now be incorporated into one post, on a single day, rather than spread out over two days in the week. Some of the challenge themes and featured images were already set, before the decision was made to combine them. So, for a brief period of time, the featured images may not match the challenge theme. Please bear with us while we ease into this adjustment. Everything is starting to come together and we're thrilled with the new format!

Now that I have that out of the way, let me tell you about the new challenge at Shelly's Images! August is almost half over and the schools are gearing up to start back, so what a perfectly fitting challenge team we have for you this week!

Back To School!

Come over to Shelly's Images and show us your back to school projects! You may be our Top hat winner or even land yourself one of our Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, for playing along!

I'm the lucky one to have created the eye candy for you today, for our weekly challenge. My card uses back to this new school paper. I added sparkle to the flourish on the paper with my clearstar gelly roll pen. The black and white polkda dotted brads are from my stash. The images (apple and pencil) and sentiment are from the Kidz Korner at Shelly's Images. The Kidz Korner section are all freebies and the images were drawn by Shelly's daughter, Taylor. If you haven't ever checked out Kidz Korner, be sure you do! Taylor has drawn some cute cute images and they're all free!

You're Spooktacular

It's freebie challenge time at Dude Time Doodles! I know how you all love freebies, so you aren't going to want to miss out on this one! Hurry on over to Dude Time Doodles, grab the featured freebie image and play along with us for your chance to be a Dude Time Doodles guest designer! (It is so much fun to be a guest designer! Don't miss out on your chance!)

Today's featured freebie is Gavin Ghost from Dude Time Doodles and Bonibleaux Designs. He's a fabulous ghost and so fun to create with!

My card uses the sketch at Sketch N Stash for the card layout. I used a fun mix of these new Halloween papers, and then made a drippy border with the drippy goo punch by Martha Stewart. After all, what's a ghost without some drippy goo?! Gavin Ghost is colored with Promarkers. I did some sponging around the image with yellow and purple inks. The brads are from my stash and were originally black and white.

This brings me to a little tip for you, today. You can alter brads and other bling my coloring them in with alcohol based markers or paints.

I used my Promarkers to alter these brads and make them the colors I needed to match my card.

How's that for a fun tip?!

Pretty Pastels

Happy Independence Day! Not only is it Independence Day, but it's also Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images!

Today's featured image is Carnations, from Shelly's Images. This beauty comes two ways, withe the regular ribbon and then with the Patriotic theme. When you buy this fabulous digi, you get both versions for one price! Whoo Hoo! How's that for a bargain?!

This gorgeous Carnations digi is available for a special price, today only, in the Shelly's Images Store.

I created my card today for a very dear lady who's going through treatment for a medical condition and can use some cheering up. I went with pink and green pastels for summer and colored the image with Promarkers. All papers are from my stash. The brads are made with matching paper using my Itop bradmaker. Seeing Red at Craft Your Passion

It's challenge time, again, at Craft Your Passion. This time, we want to see the color red on your project! This is an easy one, folks, so there is no reason not to join us this week! Be sure you link up a project and play along with us for your chance to win some goodies from our featured sponsors,Lauretta's Digital Stamps and CocoDingo!

For my project, I did an altered notecard holder. Actually, you can use it to hold most any kind of paper, recipe card, photo, etc. I plan to use it in my kitchen to hold recipe cards when I try new recipes. I found the notecard holder in the clearance bin at Michael's and decided to alter it. It was a fun project and very easy to do! The image is flower boot by Lauretta's Digital Stamps and is colored with Promarkers.
